Job Description

An organisation delivering essential services across London is seeking an External Affairs Officer to support media relations, stakeholder engagement and public affairs activity. Reporting into the Head of External Affairs, you will help protect and enhance organisational reputation while engaging with political, media and industry stakeholders.

Operating in a highly regulated environment, they are undergoing an exciting period of transformation and are looking for an ambitious communications and public affairs professional to help strengthen their external profile and stakeholder relationships.

Description

  • Manage media enquiries, monitor coverage and support the delivery of proactive and reactive media relations activity.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including MPs, councillors, industry bodies and external partners.
  • Produce briefings, correspondence, stakeholder communications, statements and other high-quality written materials.
  • Monitor political, regulatory and sector developments, providing insights on emerging opportunities and reputational risks.
  • Support senior leaders with stakeholder engagement, events, visits, incident response and crisis communications activity.

Profile

  • Experience in public affairs, corporate affairs, media relations, government relations or external communications.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working with political, regulatory or external audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality briefings, correspondence and communications materials.
  • Demonstrable interest in UK politics, current affairs and the wider public policy environment.
  • Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and complex environment.

Job Offer

  • Salary between £42,800 and £47,200, dependent on the level of experience.
  • Permanent position based in London.
  • Opportunity to work within the not-for-profit sector on meaningful policy initiatives.
