Finance Manager

Location: Southall, West London

Salary: £200 - £210 per day - Long term booking

Job Type: Full-Time.

About the Company

We are working with a leading construction and specialist fit-out company based in Southall, delivering high-quality projects across the residential and commercial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day finance function and support the business's ongoing success.

Reporting to the Fractional CFO, this is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to take ownership of key finance processes, improve controls, and play an important role in supporting business performance.

The Role

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the finance function, with a particular focus on cash management, banking, credit control, payroll administration, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

You will work closely with senior management to ensure accurate financial information is available to support decision-making and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Banking & Cash Management

  • Manage daily banking activities and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate cash position reporting.
  • Oversee invoice finance/factoring arrangements and liaise with funding providers.
  • Monitor funding availability, receipts, and allocations.
  • Support cashflow forecasting and reporting.

Credit Control & Debtor Management

  • Manage the debtor ledger and aged debtors.
  • Proactively chase outstanding invoices and payments.
  • Monitor payment applications, certificates, and retentions.
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activity and expected receipts.
  • Escalate overdue or disputed accounts where required.

Finance Systems & Reporting

  • Manage and maintain financial records within Xero.
  • Ensure bank, debtor, and creditor accounts are reconciled and up to date.
  • Support month-end processes and management reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow reporting.
  • Help develop and improve finance processes and controls.

Payroll Administration

  • Manage the relationship with the outsourced payroll provider.
  • Ensure payroll information is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Review payroll reports and resolve queries.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Assistant Finance Manager, or similar finance role.
  • Strong experience with bank reconciliations, cash management, and credit control.
  • Experience working with invoice finance/factoring facilities.
  • Experience using Xero or a similar cloud-based accounting system.
  • Experience managing outsourced payroll.
  • Good Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • AAT qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification.
  • Experience within construction, contracting, fit-out, or project-based businesses.
  • Experience supporting process improvements and financial controls.
