About the RoleOur client is looking for a Paralegal to join their Hertford office, supporting a team of Solicitors with a predominantly contentious property litigation caseload.
The role will focus on a broad range of property litigation matters, including service charge and ground rent debt recovery, breaches of covenant, possession matters and general Landlord & Tenant matters.
You will manage your own caseload under supervision while also providing support to the wider Defended team on a range of complex matters.
Key Responsibilities- Handle defended service charge, ground rent and possession matters relating to residential property.
- Review claims and assess the merits of defences and/or counterclaims.
- Liaise with clients and agents, providing advice and progressing matters as instructed.
- Review breach of covenant matters, provide advice to clients and progress cases accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with Court and Tribunal deadlines.
- Provide general Landlord & Tenant advice to clients in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide regular reports and updates to clients and/or agents.
- Provide internal legal support and advice where required.
- Maintain effective case management, including diarising key dates and keeping database records up to date.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Line Manager.
Skills & ExperienceOur client is looking for someone with:
- A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualification; a Law degree is desirable.
- Previous experience in claims handling or dispute resolution, ideally involving bulk or high-volume claims.
- Proven experience in civil litigation, particularly money claims and/or property litigation.
- Experience with property litigation, breaches of covenant and general Landlord & Tenant matters is desirable.
- Experience with legal drafting.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders at all levels.
The Ideal CandidateThis role would suit a Paralegal or legal professional with experience in civil or property litigation who is looking to develop their career within a specialist contentious property environment.
A Law graduate with relevant litigation, claims handling or legal experience may also be considered.
