Job Description

Job Title: Town Planner

Location: Kent

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their fast-paced and friendly team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with 2+ years' experience who is looking to develop their career within a consultancy offering a genuinely varied project portfolio across the South of England.

You'll have the opportunity to work across Residential, Education, Strategic and Commercial projects, gaining exposure to a wide range of clients and development proposals.

The Role

Working as part of an established planning team, you'll support and manage a variety of projects while developing your client-facing and project management experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing smaller planning projects from inception through to completion
Supporting medium and large-scale projects alongside senior planning professionals
Liaising directly with clients, Local Planning Authorities and external consultants
    Attending client and project meetings
Working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team
Preparing planning reports, statements and supporting documentation
Undertaking planning research and providing advice across a range of development projects
Supporting the delivery of Residential, Education, Strategic and Commercial schemes
Managing your workload effectively and ensuring deadlines are met
Developing strong commercial awareness and understanding of the development process
Contributing to the wider growth and success of the planning team

The Candidate

We're looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Town Planner who enjoys working in a fast-paced consultancy environment and is keen to progress their career.

You'll ideally have:

  • 2+ years' experience within town planning
    Working towards MRTPI/RTPI chartership
Experience within a planning consultancy or relevant planning environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
A commercial mindset and genuine interest in property and development
Confidence when dealing with clients and professional stakeholders
    A full UK driving licence

The Package

  • Competitive salary
    Bonus scheme
    Pension
    Professional membership support
    Gym membership
    On-site breakfast and refreshments
    Cycle to work scheme
    Tech scheme
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    Life assurance
    Excellent training and development opportunities
Support towards achieving your long-term career goals

Why This Opportunity?

This is a great opportunity for a Town Planner who wants to move away from a narrow project focus and gain exposure to a genuinely diverse range of development projects.

You'll be given the responsibility to run smaller projects independently while working alongside experienced planners on larger schemes, giving you the opportunity to build your technical, commercial and client-facing skills.
