Registered General Nurse (RGN) - Band 5 Equivalent

Location: Oxford, UK (Secure Immigration Facility)

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Bank

Shift Pattern: Please note the role will include night shifts as part of the rota.

Salary: NHS Band 5 Equivalent

Are you an experienced or newly qualified RGN looking to make a real impact in a unique and rewarding setting? We're launching a brand-new healthcare service in a secure immigration facility in Oxford, UK, and we're looking for passionate nurses to join us from the very beginning.

You'll help shape and deliver a high-quality, compassionate, and person-centred healthcare service from the ground up - ensuring residents receive care equivalent to that in the community.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Deliver primary care, health assessments, and triage services
  • Manage and treat minor illnesses and injuries
  • Carry out medication rounds, including controlled drug administration
  • Support emergency responses within the facility
  • Provide care for long-term conditions and undertake health promotion activities
  • Take a lead role in a specific area of healthcare (e.g. wound care, chronic disease, etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal specialists and external partners (e.g. mental health, dental, pharmacy, etc.)
What You Need

Essential:

  • Registered Adult Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration (no restrictions)
  • Demonstrable commitment to continued professional development (CPD)
  • Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure

Desirable:

  • Experience in secure environments or primary care settings
  • Training/experience in substance misuse or complex wound care
  • Mentorship qualification and/or experience supervising junior staff
  • Competency in triage, venepuncture, and chronic condition management
Additional Information
  • This role is based in a secure facility and includes night shifts on a rota basis
  • Full induction and training provided before service go-live
  • Applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years
  • Successful candidates must pass an Enhanced DBS check and obtain Counter Terrorism Clearance (CTC)
