We're looking for a dedicated Animal Postmortem Technician to join our pathology team and support vital work in animal disease surveillance and investigation
About the Role:
As an Animal Postmortem Technician, you will play a key role in assisting veterinary pathologists with postmortem examinations of a wide range of animal species. Your work will help identify causes of illness and death, contributing to public health, animal welfare, and disease control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and conduct of postmortem examinations.
- Handle and dissect animal specimens in accordance with health and safety protocols.
- Record and label samples for further laboratory testing.
- Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity in the postmortem suite.
- Dispose of biological waste safely and responsibly.
- Support data entry and documentation of findings.
- Liaise with veterinary professionals and laboratory staff.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in animal handling, anatomy, or laboratory work (training will be provided).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
- Comfortable working in a post mortem environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move animal specimens.
- Commitment to health and safety and biosecurity standards.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in animal science, veterinary nursing, biology, or related field.
- Previous experience in a pathology or laboratory setting.
