Reed Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected independent day school in Edinburgh, to recruit a passionate and experienced Physics / General Science Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position.
Located in beautiful surroundings and serving families from Edinburgh City, Livingston, the Calders, Linlithgow, and South Queensferry, our client is a member of the Scottish Council for Independent Schools (SCIS) and follows the Curriculum for Excellence.
The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and committed teacher to deliver:
- General Science from Primary 5 to S1
- Physics up to and including Advanced Higher level
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking school community. The successful candidate will report directly to the Depute Headteacher, Senior School.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from GTCS-registered teachers who demonstrate:
- Expertise in teaching Physics at all levels, including Advanced Higher
- A collaborative and professional approach to working within a team
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
- Enthusiasm for contributing to the school's extra-curricular programme
Desirable: Experience teaching Practical Electronics at National 5 level.
Responsibilities
As part of our client's team, you will be expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the curriculum
- Set high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
- Assess and report on pupil progress regularly
- Participate in school events, assemblies, and meetings
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Contribute to the pastoral care and wider life of the school
