Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a well-established, bespoke cable manufacturer to recruit a Design & Development Engineer to join their technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified engineer to take ownership of the design, development, and continuous improvement of high-performance cable products, working from concept through to production and beyond. You'll play a key role in shaping new product introductions while supporting existing ranges throughout their lifecycle.

The Role:

As Design & Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Interpreting customer requirements and providing timely technical responses to support enquiries.

  • Designing and developing high-performance cable products to meet customer, technical, and regulatory standards.

  • Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials and technical documentation.

  • Collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure products are aligned with factory capabilities.

  • Developing product quality and control plans, including defining and validating test requirements.

  • Supporting materials selection, testing, and supplier liaison.

  • Ensuring ongoing product compliance with relevant international standards and legislation.

  • Providing technical advice to sales, production, and customer support teams when required.

About You:

We're looking for a hands-on engineer who's as comfortable at a desk as on the factory floor - someone who enjoys seeing their designs come to life.

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in electro-mechanical design, ideally within a continuous manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of polymeric materials and materials testing.

  • Familiarity with British and international standards.

  • Background in a regulated industry such as aerospace or automotive (advantageous).

  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel) and ERP systems (Monitor experience would be beneficial).
