Job Description

Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Tutor to support a bright and dedicated young learner in the Southwick area. This role involves providing 10 hours per week of tailored tuition in reading, writing, and potentially maths, with a focus on building confidence and reinforcing key skills from the KS1 curriculum.



About the Learner:

  • Currently in Key Stage 2, working below age-related expectations.
  • Learning is focused on KS1-level content.
  • Has a diagnosis of global learning delay and an EHCP in place.
  • A committed and enthusiastic learner, who thrives with encouragement and consistency.
  • Needs a tutor who can nurture confidence, celebrate small wins, and adapt teaching to their unique pace and style.

About you:

  • Experience working with children with additional learning needs.
  • A warm, encouraging approach to teaching.
  • Ability to create engaging, accessible learning activities.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ideally, a background in primary education, SEND support, or specialist tutoring.

As a Tutor, you will:

  • Provide individualised, nurturing support in reading, writing, and potentially maths, tailored to the learner's current level and interests.
  • Use creative and accessible strategies to reinforce KS1 curriculum content, helping the learner build foundational skills at their own pace.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, with a strong focus on boosting the learner's confidence and self-esteem.
  • Celebrate progress and help the learner feel proud of their achievements.

Full time/part-time - Varied
Hours - 10 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
