Job Description

Location: Flexible - Any office across multiple regions such as Bristol, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff, and Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Initially a 6-month contract, with potential for extension depending on future workload
Hours Per Week: 37.5 per week
Working Arrangements: Hybrid - Ideally 3 days in the office
Qualification required for this role: Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or HND or equivalent experience. Working towards chartership with the ICE.
Expenses: Yes - for travel to and from project sites
Notice Period: 4 weeks by contractor; 1 week by employer
Vetting Level: B
IR35 Status: Inside

Opportunity Overview

A leading multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its growing national Building Design team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a variety of high-profile design and construction projects across the UK and overseas.

This is a flexible role that can be based in any regional office, with hybrid working options available. The role is suited for a motivated civil engineer who is eager to expand their experience across infrastructure, drainage, utilities, and structural design within the built environment. This role falls INSIDE IR35.

Key Responsibilities

Contributing to the delivery of small to medium infrastructure projects as part of a technically focussed design
Production of designs for projects in accordance with relevant design standards and codes
Ensuring the provision of efficient and high-quality engineering services
Effectively manage own time
Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary design team
Comply with Quality and Technical Assurance Procedures.
Be aware of and work in compliance with BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work and the project BIM Execution plan.

Requirements


Experience working as a Civil Engineer ideally in the Buildings sector.
Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or HND or equivalent experience.
Working towards chartership with the ICE.
Experience in the design and analysis of drainage, utilities, paved and unpaved surfaces, earthworks, access and accessibility, construction logistics.
Familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices.
Good communication and presentation skills, verbal and written (for report writing purposes).
Ability to use AutoCAD and Civils 3D. Revit BIM 360 experience is also desirable.
Ability to work and collaborate both independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.
Embrace new technologies including digital engineering, automation and parametric design.
Ability to achieve SC clearance (desirable)
Driving Licence (desirable)
Eligible for UK SC (Security Clearance)

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
