About the Role

We are seeking a Security Engineer to join a high-impact, cross-departmental initiative for a client within the public sector industry. The team is building a highly secure, AI-enhanced platform that integrates data from multiple sources to power next-generation digital public services.

This is an opportunity to work on a mission-critical system where security is foundational, not an afterthought. You'll play a leading role in shaping the security architecture, processes, and governance for one of the most ambitious AI public sector projects in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first line of security support, leading threat modelling (STRIDE) and conducting risk assessments, including third-party vendor reviews.
  • Produce and maintain security documentation, including architectural decisions, in-house testing results, and penetration test scopes and remediation plans.
  • Drive the creation of security artifacts across the product life cycle, aligned with internal governance and compliance standards.
  • Design and maintain secure architecture across AI-driven systems, ensuring alignment with Secure by Design principles for both PoC and production environments.
  • Ensure secure integration of large language models (LLMs), third-party APIs, and cloud-native services (eg, AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Contribute to the security governance framework, defining localised standards, processes, and controls for the AI platform.

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong practical knowledge of:

  • UK GDPR
  • OWASP Web Application Security
  • OWASP LLM Top 10
  • OWASP MASVS
  • OWASP AI Top 10 Agentic AI Threats
  • OWASP GenAI Red Teaming Guide
  • ISO/IEC 42001:2023 - IT AI Management System
  • Demonstrable experience applying threat modelling methodologies (eg, STRIDE).
  • Expertise in building and maintaining secure architectures for AI/ML systems.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, cloud-native environments, and secure API integration.
  • Experience working in or with government or highly regulated sectors.
