Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a specialist Primary SEN school in Preston, seeking a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4 to 11 years with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This is a full-time position, starting as soon as possible, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children with additional needs.

About the Role:

You'll be working closely with class teachers and the SEN team to provide tailored support to pupils with autism, helping them engage with learning and develop key life and communication skills. Support may be provided on a 1:1 or small group basis, depending on the needs of the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the learning and development of pupils with Autism
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Assisting with communication, sensory regulation, and structured routines
  • Helping implement individual learning plans (EHCPs)
  • Encouraging independence and inclusion within the school setting

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism (ASC)
  • Be patient, nurturing, and adaptable in a classroom environment
  • Be confident in managing behaviour positively and calmly
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service
