My client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant to join their growing finance team based just outside of Hitchin. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in transactional finance who is eager to develop professionally and work towards a recognised accounting qualification.
About the Role
As a Trainee Accountant, you'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting functions while working closely with experienced professionals. You'll be supported every step of the way as you progress toward a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA (fully funded by my client for the successful candidate).
Key Responsibilities
- Support month-end processes including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with year-end audit preparation
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Manage credit control and customer payment allocations
- Maintain the fixed assets register
- Handle petty cash and banking duties
- Process sales orders and customer returns
- Complete ONS surveys
- Provide cover for accounts payable
- Support system go-live (IFS Cloud)
- Carry out ad-hoc finance tasks as needed
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. You'll ideally bring:
- AAT Level 2 to Level 3 qualification (or currently studying)
- A strong desire to pursue ACCA or CIMA
- A solid understanding and poven track record in transactional accounting
- A proactive, honest, and accountable approach to work
- Confidence to ask for help and collaborate with others
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible, open-minded attitude and eagerness to learn
- A full driving licence is a must
