Role Summary

They re looking for a proactive and organised Transport Planner to join their busy team. Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, you ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our operations handling customer enquiries, securing new work, preparing quotes, planning vehicle and driver schedules, and ensuring everything runs smoothly and profitably.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where your communication and decision-making will directly impact our success. If you thrive under pressure, enjoy problem-solving, and love the buzz of a busy transport office we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to customer enquiries via phone and email, providing accurate and competitive pricing
  • Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers people buy from people
  • Plan and allocate jobs efficiently using available vehicle and driver resources
  • Monitor ongoing jobs and support drivers throughout the day
  • Ensure jobs are completed on time and meet customer expectations
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and drivers
  • Stay calm and focused in a fast-moving environment
  • Maintain high standards of organisation, accuracy, and follow-through

Essential Skills & Qualities

  • Strong numeracy and commercial awareness confident with pricing and cost control
  • Methodical and detail-oriented, with a problem-solving mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively under pressure
  • A genuine team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: £30,000 £45,000, depending on experience
