Strategic Account Manager

Location: Hybrid (East Midlands & Home) with UK travel

Package: c 60,000 + up to 25% bonus + 5,500 car allowance or electric company car + private medical + 25 days holiday + 10% pension

Lead Strategic Growth in a Fast-Moving Wholesale Environment

Our client is a leading name in the wholesale distribution sector, currently undergoing an exciting transformation. With major investments in digital innovation and operational excellence, they are seeking a commercially driven Strategic Account Manager to lead and grow relationships with their key national accounts. Whilst there aren't any direct reports within this role, you will act as a mentor for a team of account managers.

This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of wholesale supply chains, operational dynamics, and commercial performance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take full ownership of a high-value customer portfolio, managing commercial performance, profitability, and long-term retention.
  • Build trusted strategic partnerships with C-suite and senior stakeholders across key accounts.
  • Develop and execute account plans aligned with client goals and the broader wholesale strategy.
  • Leverage data from tools like Salesforce and Power BI to drive insight-led decisions and prepare impactful business reviews.
  • Identify and deliver new business opportunities within existing accounts to drive incremental growth.
  • Lead and resolve escalations, ensuring a best-in-class customer experience and protecting customer loyalty.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, influencing product development, service enhancements, and commercial decisions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and the Insight & Analytics team, to deliver seamless, strategic solutions.
  • Provide commercial leadership to the Account Support Management team, aligning efforts and setting priorities for wider account servicing.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in strategic account management within a wholesale or product-led environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing account-level P&L and driving commercial outcomes.
  • Strong operational understanding of wholesale supply chain businesses.
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and aligning cross-functional teams.
  • Commercially curious, data-driven, and improvement-focused.
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Power BI is advantageous.
