Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harrow that is seeking a dedicated DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department as soon as possible.This is a full-time, long-term position (Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm) - perfect for someone with practical workshop experience who's eager to support teaching and learning in a creative, fast-paced environment.
About the RoleAs a DT Technician, your duties will include:
Preparing, setting up, and maintaining materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons across DT areas such as resistant materials, product design, electronics, and graphics.
Supporting teachers during lessons and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.
Maintaining and servicing machinery, managing stock, and ensuring a clean and organised workspace.
Assisting in the creation of teaching resources, displays, and learning aids.
Supporting students during practical sessions under the guidance of the class teacher.
Ensuring all safety checks, COSHH records, and risk assessments are accurate and up to date.
Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a similar workshop-based role (e.g. carpentry, engineering, fabrication).
A relevant qualification in Design, Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of tools, machinery, and materials used in secondary DT education.
Excellent understanding of health and safety practices.
Organised, reliable, and proactive, with good communication and teamwork skills.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
