Elevation Recruitment Group are partnered with a manufacturing business based in Barnsley, employing around 300 talented people across production, engineering, and support functions. We are seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Manager to lead and embed best practice across all levels of the organisation. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for driving a positive safety culture, maintaining compliance with legislation, and leading the business through the implementation and certification of ISO 45001 (Health & Safety Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management). You will manage and develop a small HSE team, providing direction, support, and assurance to ensure that all employees, visitors, and contractors operate safely and responsibly.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of HSE systems, policies, and procedures in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Act as the company's competent person, ensuring full compliance with current health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Support the leadership team in embedding a proactive HSE culture through engagement, training, and visible leadership.
- Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
- Coordinate external certification and surveillance audits, ensuring the business is fully prepared and compliant.
- Monitor and report HSE performance metrics, delivering regular updates to management and workforce teams.
- Liaise with regulators, insurers, and other stakeholders on all HSE matters.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to line managers and employees to promote ownership of HSE responsibilities.
I'm keen to speak to HSE Manager's with the following skillset: - Proven experience as an HSE Manager within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practice.
- Hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage and inspire at all levels of the organisation.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) required; membership of IOSH (Chartered or working towards) desirable.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a small HSE team.
