3rd Line Engineer

 REED Technology is working with a well-established organisation in Norwich to recruit a highly capable 3rd Line Support Engineer. This role is ideal for a technically advanced professional with strong networking expertise and a passion for solving complex IT challenges across commercial, governmental, and educational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level support for escalated technical issues across hardware, software, and networking.
 - Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex network incidents and performance issues.
 - Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and wireless access points.
 - Design and implement secure LAN/WAN architectures and VPN solutions.
 - Monitor network traffic and performance using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or similar.
 - Manage IP Addressing schemes, VLANs, and routing protocols (eg, OSPF, EIGRP).
 - Ensure network security through access controls, Firewall policies, and intrusion detection systems.
 - Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on network upgrades, migrations, and architecture planning.
 - Support server environments including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange.
 - Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions.
 - Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve operational efficiency and network resilience.
 
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in a 3rd line or senior IT support role with a strong networking focus.
 - In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, IP Routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and subnetting.
 - Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment and technologies.
 - CCNA certification (required); CCNP or other advanced networking certifications (desirable).
 - Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
 - Proficiency in Windows OS, Server OS, and Microsoft Exchange (SMTP, POP3, IMAP).
 - Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365.
 - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
 - Full, clean UK driving licence.
 - Ability to pass a DBS check.
