This is a superb opportunity for an experienced Panel Wirer who wants to remain hands-on while also stepping into a leadership capacity overseeing work quality, supporting junior team members, and contributing to continuous improvement across the production floor.
As a Senior Panel Wirer, you will lead by example on the shop floor, taking responsibility for the assembly, wiring, and testing of complex electrical control panels. You'll provide day-to-day guidance to the panel wiring team, ensure best practice is followed, and act as a key point of contact between production, engineering, and supervisory staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, and wire complex electrical control panels to a high standard.
- Interpret and verify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Perform advanced crimping, soldering, termination, and component integration.
- Carry out electrical testing, inspection, fault-finding, and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure all builds meet strict safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and mentoring to junior panel wirers.
- Support production supervisors with workload planning and task allocation.
- Lead by example in maintaining high standards of workmanship, accuracy, and safety.
- Assist in resolving technical issues, wiring challenges, or design-related queries.
- Champion continuous improvement ideas to enhance efficiency and build quality.
- Ensure documentation, wiring records, and build sheets are completed accurately.
Skills & qualifications
- Significant experience as a Panel Wirer or Electrical Assembler in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical control systems, components, PLCs, drives, and industrial wiring techniques.
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings confidently.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities mentoring, guiding, or supervising others.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and fix wiring/build issues.
- Excellent organisation, communication, and attention to detail.
