Futures are working with a long-established engineering manufacturer renowned for supplying high-integrity fabricated products to a range of highly regulated industries, including defence, energy, marine, and industrial sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to add an experienced Plater Welder to their skilled fabrication team.
As a Plater Welder, you will play a key part in the fabrication of heavy-gauge components and assemblies. You ll work from detailed engineering drawings to prepare, form, and weld complex structures, ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities Plater
- Interpreting detailed fabrication and engineering drawings.
- Marking out, cutting, shaping, and assembling heavy-gauge plate and structural steel.
- Performing high-quality welding using MIG, MAG and/or TIG processes (depending on client specification).
- Carrying out positional welding to exacting standards, often on thick-wall or complex components.
- Conducting fabrication tasks such as grinding, tacking, and finishing.
- Working to strict quality, industry, and regulatory requirements (e.g., defence, nuclear, marine).
- Supporting testing, inspection, and traceability processes as required.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and following all company health & safety procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience - Plater
- Proven experience as a Plater, Fabricator, or Plater Welder within heavy manufacturing.
- Strong ability to read and work from detailed technical drawings.
- Skilled in welding processes (MIG/MAG/TIG) to a high standard.
- Ability to fabricate and weld heavy-gauge materials to tight tolerances.
- Experience working to stringent quality or customer specifications.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and compliance in a regulated environment.
