Senior Consultant - Resources and Waste

About the Role
As a Senior Consultant, you will:
- Develop resource and waste management strategies for major developments.
- Prepare waste-related Environmental Impact Assessments and Construction Waste Management Plans.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations while maximising resource efficiency.
- Manage technical work, supervise project teams, and maintain quality and budget control.
- Lead client liaison, proposals, and contribute to business development and marketing efforts.
You will report to the Resources and Waste Business Leader and may travel across the UK and internationally as required.
What We're Looking For
- Chartered Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong project management skills and proven business development experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and flexibility.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of UK/EU resources and waste policy, legislation, and circular economy principles.
- Technical and financial expertise in waste storage, collection, transport, and treatment technologies (e.g., WTS, MRF, MBT, IVC, AD, WtE, pyrolysis, gasification).
- Experience developing resource and waste strategies for local authorities or new developments, including life-cycle assessment tools (e.g., WRATE).
- Waste auditing and EIA preparation for major schemes.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and visualization.
- Strong presentation and report writing abilities.
- Commercial awareness and business acumen.
Qualifications
- Honours and Master's degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or similar.
- Full membership of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.
Desirable
- Experience in waste planning, environmental permitting, and procurement (PFI/PPP).
- Familiarity with International Financial Institutions (ADB, EBRD, EIB, World Bank).
- Technical due diligence and lenders' technical advisor roles.
- Skills in PowerBI, AI tools for research, and coding (Python or similar).
