Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The Disrepairs Surveyor is responsible for managing and resolving disrepair cases, ensuring that all properties meet required standards and that legal obligations are met. The role involves technical assessment of disrepair claims, accurate diagnosis of building defects, specification of corrective works, and close liaison with legal teams, contractors, and residents.

The postholder will provide professional surveying expertise to minimise organisational risk, ensure timely resolution of cases, and protect the reputation and financial interests of the housing association.



Key Responsibilities

Surveying & Technical Diagnosis
Undertake thorough inspections of properties where disrepair has been reported or claimed.
Diagnose root causes of defects, including damp, mould, structural movement, heating issues, water ingress, and building fabric failures.
Prepare detailed inspection reports, repair schedules, and evidence packs for internal and legal purposes.
Provide expert technical advice on building pathology and repair solutions.
