Fire Safety Manager

Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced and qualified Fire Safety Manager to ensure compliance across our housing stock, focusing on social housing and high-rise residential blocks. This hybrid role requires both office work and regular site visits, offering a dynamic work environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead fire safety compliance across housing stock, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and best practices.
- Conduct inspections and audits of fire safety systems, including fire doors, alarms, emergency lighting, and suppression equipment.
- Monitor compliance with fire safety regulations, identify risks, and recommend remedial actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspections and audits, highlighting deficiencies and corrective measures.
- Deliver fire safety advice and training to staff and residents, including emergency evacuation procedures.
- Stay updated on fire safety legislation and industry standards, driving continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Professional Qualification in fire safety (e.g., C08 Fire Risk Management in Residential Properties or equivalent).
- Proven experience in social housing, specifically managing fire safety in high-rise blocks.
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety regulations, including the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005.
- Demonstrable experience in fire risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular site visits.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with fire safety management software.
- Experience managing contractors and in-house teams.
- Understanding of post-Grenfell compliance requirements.
