The RoleLancashire County Council is seeking a qualified Finance Lead to lead on the preparation of the 2025/26 Statement of Accounts for the Lancashire Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Pension Fund.
This is a senior technical role requiring strong experience in local authority financial statements and the ability to work confidently within a public sector accounting framework. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring statutory compliance and high-quality financial reporting in line with professional standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and production of the 2025/26 Pension Fund financial statements
- Ensure full compliance with CIPFA standards and the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the UK (2025/26)
- Manage the end-to-end process for the LGPS Pension Fund Statement of Accounts
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors as required
- Provide technical accounting expertise and guidance throughout the closure of accounts process
Required Experience- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. CCAB or equivalent)
- Essential: Previous experience leading on local authority financial statements
- Desirable: Experience preparing or leading pension fund accounts
- Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and CIPFA requirements
Working Arrangements- Hybrid working available
- Mandatory on-site attendance at County Hall, Preston at least 3 days per week
