Job Description

Location: Northumberland (Base flexible, covering County-wide)

Team: Children's Social Care

The Role

Northumberland's Disabled Children's Team are looking for a dedicated Social Worker who understands that "disability" is just one part of a child's story. You will be the bridge between families and the support they need to thrive, ensuring that every child in the county has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling, safe, and ambitious life.

Responsibilities
  • Build genuine, lasting connections with children with complex needs and their personal support networks

  • Conduct holistic assessments under the Children Act 1989 and 2004, ensuring the voice of the child is heard, even when they are non-verbal

  • Work alongside health and education colleagues to create seamless Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and support packages

  • Manage a varied caseload including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children Looked After, specifically tailored to the nuances of disability

Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered)
  • Experience (or a strong interest) in working with children with physical disabilities and learning disabilities

  • The ability to think creatively, sometimes the best solutions aren't found in a handbook

  • A valid driver's license
