I'm working with a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy in Surrey that is looking to add an Assistant Town Planner to its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their planning career who wants hands-on experience, strong mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of projects across the public and private sectors.
The RoleAs an Assistant Town Planner, you'll support senior planners across a diverse portfolio of work, including residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. You'll be involved at all stages of the planning process and given genuine responsibility as your experience grows.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
Undertaking planning research and site appraisals
Drafting planning statements and supporting documents
Liaising with local authorities, clients and consultants
Monitoring planning applications and policy changes
This role would suit a motivated and detail-oriented graduate or early-career planner who is keen to develop within a consultancy environment.
You'll ideally have:
A degree (or master's) in Town Planning or a related discipline
An interest in working towards MRTPI (or already on the pathway)
Some experience in planning (consultancy, local authority or placement)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
