Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare and present proposals for projects, including cost justifications and progress updates.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise across design, development, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Produce and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings using design software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Identify and drive process improvements related to quality, machine efficiency, and safety performance.
- Advise on spare parts requirements for new equipment, including recommended minimum stock levels.
- Evaluate potential subcontractors based on cost, delivery performance, and quality metrics.
- Appoint and manage subcontractors, ensuring work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain oversight of activities requiring compliance with relevant construction regulations (e.g., CDM where applicable).
- Ensure all project activities adhere to recognised safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and authorities when required.
- Identify technical or site-specific issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or HNC/HND with significant relevant experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience within mechanical engineering, capital project management, or a similar environment.
- Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor).
