Job Description

Transport Planner - Planning Consultancy (UK)

Location: Kent

Salary: Flexible

I'm working with a well-established, independent planning consultancy that's looking to strengthen its transport team with the addition of a Transport Planner. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work on high-quality development projects, gain exposure to a broad client base, and progress within a supportive, technically strong environment.

The Role

You'll be involved in a wide range of development-led transport planning work, supporting planning applications from pre-application stage through to determination and delivery. The role offers genuine variety and the chance to take ownership of projects as your experience grows.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans

  • Providing transport input to planning applications and appeals

  • Undertaking junction capacity assessments and basic modelling

  • Liaising with local highway authorities, clients, architects and planners

  • Supporting senior team members on larger and more complex schemes

  • Assisting with site appraisals and feasibility studies

About You

This role would suit a graduate or early-career Transport Planner, or someone at a more intermediate level looking to step up.

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or similar

  • Experience working in a consultancy or local authority environment

  • Familiarity with UK planning and development processes

  • Working knowledge of tools such as Junctions 9/10, Arcady/Picady (or similar)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A proactive, organised approach and a genuine interest in development planning

What's on Offer
  • Competitive salary depending on experience

  • Clear progression and mentoring from experienced practitioners

  • Exposure to a wide variety of residential and mixed-use projects

  • Flexible working and a positive, collaborative team culture

  • Support towards professional development and chartership

If you're a Transport Planner looking for a role where your input will be valued and your career can genuinely progress, I'd be very happy to discuss this opportunity in confidence.
