SEMH Teaching Assistant - Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)
Location: Longsight, Manchester
Position: Full-Time
Hours: Longer school hours (details provided on application)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Agency

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work full-time within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Longsight area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs

  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff

  • Adhering to safeguarding and behaviour policies

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or within a PRU, alternative provision, or SEND setting (desirable)

  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • Ability to work longer school hours

  • Passion for supporting vulnerable young people
