Maintenance Engineer (multiskilled) - Portsmouth - Permanent role - Competitive salaryShift Pattern: Day shift, Mon-Fri 5 days per week (40 hours)We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support and develop maintenance operations across our advanced precision machining facility. This is a newly created role, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape maintenance structures, processes, and best practices from the ground up. The role requires a hands-on engineer with both mechanical and electrical expertise and strong CNC machinery knowledge. Key Responsibilities:Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on CNC and manual machinery.Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.Support continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, schedules, and documentation.Ensure machinery uptime and reliability across production operations.Work independently while also collaborating with production and engineering teams.Maintain compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.Machinery & Technologies Supported:5-Axis CNC milling machinesCNC turning lathesCNC grindersManual lathes3-5 axis milling machinesDrilling machinesEDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machinesCMM inspection machinesCAD/CAM and inspection systemsCandidate Requirements;Strong maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.Dual-skilled with both mechanical and electrical bias.Proven ability to work on own initiative and build maintenance structures and processes.Good working knowledge of CNC machinery and related control systems.Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.Desirable:Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds / HNC or equivalent).Experience within aerospace, automotive, motorsport, defence, or medical manufacturing environments.
