A respected and progressive secondary school in Colchester is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Physics to lead and further develop a successful Science faculty starting in April Term.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Physics specialist with leadership experience - or an ambitious second-in-department ready for progression - to shape the strategic direction of Physics and inspire a love of science across the school.
The Role:
- Provide clear leadership and vision for the Physics curriculum across KS3-KS5
- Ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning within the department
- Drive outstanding student progress and examination outcomes
- Lead curriculum planning, assessment development, and intervention strategies
- Support and mentor staff to enhance professional practice
- Promote enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and competitions
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A degree in Physics or a closely related discipline
- Experience teaching Physics at KS3 & KS4
- Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to academic excellence
- Leadership experience or demonstrable readiness to lead a department
- The ability to analyse performance data and implement improvement strategies
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
