Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Procurement Manager - Transport to shape and lead our approach to transport and mobility solutions across the organisation. You'll play a key role in ensuring our vehicle fleet, associated equipment and wider mobility services deliver excellent value, support our decarbonisation ambitions and help colleagues work safely, efficiently and sustainably.

You'll influence how we source and manage a complex, high impact category, while helping us deliver long term ambitions.

What it's like to work here

You'll join a supportive and expert procurement team and work closely with our colleagues from Operations, Risk & Safety, Sustainability, Finance, Insurance, Estates and our properties across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You'll be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview

What you'll be doing

You'll develop and deliver our transport category strategy, ensuring we make evidence based, future based, future-focused decisions that manage cost, risk, compliance and environmental impact. You'll establish and maintain our "Driving Hub" a central resource for colleagues who need guidance on fleet, equipment and mobility solutions.

Using insight and strong supplier relationships, you'll enhance the entire vehicle lifecycle from acquisition, leasing and maintenance through to redeployment and disposal ensuring our colleagues can access the right transport solutions efficiently. You'll help connect sourcing decisions with our decarbonisation goals, ensuring electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and energy reporting are integrated into category planning.

Working with procurement colleagues and stakeholders organisation wide, you'll run competitive sourcing processes, strengthen contract management, oversee telematics and safety reporting, and support compliance with driver and vehicle standards. You'll champion innovation, trialling new solutions with suppliers and scaling successes.

Who we're looking for

  • CIPS membership and accreditation or equivalent level of experience
  • Strategic category management for transport/fleet, including legal/regulatory context for road safety, driver and vehicle compliance
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think strategically
  • Experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies
  • Sound understanding and awareness of political issues, sensitivities and developments and the influence
  • Strong communication and collaborative working skills with the ability to advise and influence

Additional criteria for all other applicants:

  • Ability to develop and manage category sourcing strategies, and design and operate procurement processes and governance models
  • Well developed supplier relationship management skills with an ability to operate at senior levels within supplier structures
