Job Description

Job Title: Welder / Fabricator
Location: Dorking
Salary: 30,000 - 40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week (Shift rotation: Early and Lates)

Overall Purpose of the Position
To assemble and weld parts and major fabrications in mild and stainless-steel materials, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and company quality standards.

About the Company:
Our client is a highly regarded specialist in the repair and fabrication of HGVs, offering state-of-the-art new build and refurbishment services. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, they are now expanding their team and seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join their Dorking facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Weld and fabricate commercial vehicle bodies and chassis using MIG and TIG processes
  • Assemble and weld components and major fabrications from engineering drawings
  • Work with mild steel and stainless steel (1.6mm to 6mm thickness)
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and ISO quality standards
  • Mark out, fettle, clean and finish parts to meet paint and finishing requirements
  • Pressure and leak test fabrications as required
  • Maintain high standards of self-inspection and reject substandard work
  • Complete required work records and paperwork accurately and timely
  • Follow all health & safety procedures in accordance with company policy and risk assessments
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Cross-train to gain full competency across multiple fabrication tasks
  • Contribute to process improvements and support team initiatives
Skills & Attributes:
  • Proficient in MIG & TIG welding
  • Experience working with stainless steel
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • High attention to detail and quality control
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to upskill and undertake welder coding
Qualifications:
  • Recognised welding qualifications
  • Welder approval certificates
  • Completion of relevant intense welding training courses
