As a passionate, values-led charity their mission is to bridge the gap between talented individuals and employers offering rewarding job opportunities, creating a thriving community where everyone has the chance to succeed. They deliver on skills shortages, push back on regional unemployment and contribute to a national reduction in reoffending. There are only five charities across the country with a targeted focus on getting people with convictions back into paid employment. With around 50,000 people being released from prison each year and over 12m people already in the community facing the barrier of a criminal record, the need for specialist job-finder support is vast.Key ResponsibilitiesYou'll build employer networks, coach candidates who are rebuilding their lives, and lead a high-performing team. The Durham office is pivotal to the organisations next stage of growth, making this a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in a values-driven, people-first environment.This is a fantastic position which will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work towards a promotion to Manager within 6 month, to then also provide leadership to the Durham office team, being responsible for the management and administration of the office, whilst continuing to hold hands-on Recruitment Consultant responsibilities for 75% of your role.As Senior Recruitment Consultant, you will:
Employer Engagement• Proactively source vacancies by approaching local employers, both advertising and non advertising.• Build strong employer relationships, conduct site visits, and understand workplace environments.• Present candidates effectively, manage disclosures professionally, and guide employers through inclusive hiring.• Advocate strongly for suitable candidates and challenge bias where necessary.
Candidate Job Finder Support• Conduct 1:1 assessments to understand candidates' readiness, strengths, and barriers.• Support with CVs, disclosure letters, right to work documents, training bookings, and job search coaching.• Prepare candidates for interviews and provide the practical resources needed to attend.• Offer ongoing mentoring for up to 12 months in work, helping navigate challenges around housing, finance, mental health, and lifestyle stability.• Maintain accurate records on the CRM system and monitor progress throughout their employment journey.
Fast Track Office Management • Manage and support a team of 4-6 staff, leading by example in business development and casework.• Ensure smooth office operations, strong performance, and effective delivery against strategic plans.• Monitor targets, report progress to leadership, and maintain best practice and safeguarding standards.• Coordinate clinical supervision to support team wellbeing and reflective practice.
Partnership & Community Engagement• Build and maintain relationships with probation, police, charities, job centres, and community organisations.• Represent the charity at local events and maintain a strong presence in referral networks.• Track external developments that may affect candidate support or employer engagement and feed insights back to leadership.About youSkills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in recruitment, sales, or business development
- Minimum 2 years' people management experience in a target-driven environment
- Outstanding communication skills and emotional intelligence
- A non-judgemental, compassionate and resilient approach
- Commitment to inclusive practice and the charity's values
- UK driving licence + own vehicle (essential)
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo enhanced DBS check
