Assistant PlannerLocation: London

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a well respected consultancy in their search for an Assistant Planner to join their London-based team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career planning professional to develop their experience within a highly regarded consultancy, working on a wide range of projects across the residential, commercial, mixed-use and regeneration sectors throughout London.

The Role

As an Assistant Planner, you will support senior members of the team in delivering planning advice and managing applications across a diverse project portfolio. You will gain hands-on experience across the full planning lifecycle, from initial site appraisals through to submission and determination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation of planning applications and appeals

  • Supporting site appraisals and planning research

  • Reviewing planning policy and development plan documents

  • Undertaking site visits where required

  • Supporting senior colleagues on a variety of projects

  • Liaising with clients, consultants and Local Planning Authorities

  • Monitoring planning legislation and policy updates

Candidate Requirements
  • A relevant degree in Town Planning or related discipline

  • Working towards MRTPI Chartership (or willingness to do so)

  • Some previous planning experience (placement or professional) desirable

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proactive and organised approach to work

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
