Group Technical Accountant

Reading - 4 days per week onsite/1 remote

£55,000 - £65,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Fantastic new permanent opportunity for a Group Technical Accountant with this market leading global manufacturing business based in Reading. As the Group Technical Accountant, you will be a key member of the Group Accounting team which is responsible for the production and delivery of internal and external group financial reporting. The role involves significant liaison and coordinating with the Group's local operating businesses to ensure the integrity and quality of accounting applied.

This central role will drive technical accounting application and compliance within the Group, acting as the subject matter expert on both routine and non-routine accounting matters. This position will suit someone who has recently qualified and is looking to specialise within an in-house environment and is keen to learn and develop their career within technical accounting.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, concise and supported guidance on the application of accounting standards to both routine and non-routine complex transactions.
  • Challenge and review technical accounting memos and their supporting documentation.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly and year end consolidated reporting processes.
  • Drive updates to and implementation of new or existing accounting policies.
  • Completion of valuation and impairment models for the Group as well as M&A accounting.
  • Provision and delivery of accounting training materials and updates to members of the finance community as required.
  • Collaborate with auditors and other internal stakeholders to ensure compliance in reporting.

Skills Required:

  • Qualified ACCA/ACA or equivalent with a minimum of 1-3 years PQE.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills (experience of Group consolidations, IFRS and/or US GAAP highly beneficial).
  • Ability to handle a wide range of issues and multiple projects simultaneously, managing to tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills & an ability to communicate well with senior management.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to analyse and apply relevant accounting literature suitably.
  • A strong interest and desire to specialise within a technical accounting position.
