Job Description

Compliance Consultant opportunity based in the City of London, this is a full-time, office-based role (five days per week) offered on a six-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension or permanent conversion subject to review. The salary range is £35,000-£40,000 (pro rata for the contract duration).

An international commercial bank with a global presence is expanding its London operations as part of a broader growth strategy. The London branch is strengthening its regulatory and trading capabilities and is seeking an experienced Compliance professional to support this phase of development.

About the Role

Compliance is a key function within the organisation, ensuring products, services and processes meet UK regulatory requirements while delivering appropriate customer outcomes.

This is a hands-on role focused on strengthening the firm's regulatory framework and enhancing the effectiveness of financial crime and conduct risk systems and controls. The successful candidate will work closely with senior Compliance leadership to embed frameworks into day-to-day business operations and support ongoing regulatory obligations.

Key ResponsibilitiesFramework Implementation
  • Support the practical implementation and embedding of regulatory, financial crime and conduct risk frameworks across business lines.

Compliance Monitoring
  • Assist in the execution and enhancement of the Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP) to ensure internal controls remain effective and up to date.

Financial Crime Prevention
  • Review and strengthen systems and controls relating to anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF) and sanctions compliance.

Policies and Procedures
  • Draft, review and update compliance policies and procedures.

  • Support the communication and embedding of updated documentation across business units.

Advisory
  • Provide regulatory guidance to business units to ensure new products and trading activities align with UK regulatory requirements.

Audit & Project Support
  • Support the Compliance Officer/MLRO in addressing findings from internal and external audits.

  • Contribute to broader compliance and AML-related projects as required.

Candidate Requirements
  • Degree educated or equivalent; relevant professional qualifications advantageous.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in financial services compliance and/or AML within commercial banking or MiFID investment firms.

  • Good understanding of UK financial services regulation and financial products.

  • Experience supporting the implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working in an office-based environment five days per week.
