Town PlannerLocation: Cardiff

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a very well respected consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their Cardiff office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional to join a respected national consultancy, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use sectors.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you will play a key role in delivering planning advice and managing applications across a wide range of development projects throughout Wales and the wider UK. You will work closely with senior colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to provide strategic, commercially focused planning solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals

  • Undertaking site appraisals and planning policy research

  • Drafting high-quality Planning Statements and supporting reports

  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and stakeholders

  • Managing smaller projects independently while supporting larger schemes

  • Attending client meetings and site visits

  • Monitoring planning legislation and policy updates

Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline

  • MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership

  • Experience within consultancy or local authority

  • Good understanding of the Welsh planning system (desirable)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proactive and organised approach to project management
