Supervising Solicitor

Location: LondonContract: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in the office

We're looking for a confident and experienced Senior Solicitor to lead and develop the Legal Services Team in a large housing organisation. This is a managing role helping manage litigation caseloads, mentoring junior lawyers, and driving excellence in the delivery of housing and leasehold legal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and quality-assure the work of paralegals and trainees, ensuring consistently high standards.
  • Conduct regular case reviews and provide structured feedback to support professional growth.
  • Monitor team performance against KPIs and the internal Service Legal Agreement.
  • Recommend best practices to leadership for improved efficiency, service delivery, and legal risk management.
  • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions on housing and property law for both legal and operational teams.
  • Manage a diverse and challenging housing litigation caseload, including possession actions, ASB cases, disrepair disputes, and complex leasehold matters.
  • Work closely with internal clients, running regular review meetings to ensure effective case progression.
  • Draft clear, concise court pleadings, statements of case, applications, and instructions to counsel.
  • Conduct advocacy in County Court, Magistrates' Court, and before the Residential Property Tribunal where appropriate.
  • Negotiate settlements confidently, including damages, compensation, and costs.
  • Find proactive, creative solutions to reduce litigation wherever possible and support early resolution.

Skills & Experience

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Admission as a Solicitor in England & Wales or Fellowship of CILEX (FILEX).
  • At least 3 years' PQE in housing law - whether gained in private practice, local authority, or an in-house provider.
  • Deep experience handling high-volume housing litigation, especially ASB, disrepair, and possession claims.
  • Strong understanding of housing/leasehold law, case law, and the full litigation lifecycle.
