You will be joining a specialist legal team dedicated to supporting clients who have suffered serious and life-changing injuries. The department provides an essential service, guiding clients through complex personal injury claims with compassion, professionalism, and expert legal insight. As a Claims Handler within the Serious Injury Team, you will manage your own caseload of personal injury claims from instruction to resolution. You will supervise Paralegals, liaise with third parties, coordinate medical evidence, and negotiate settlements. Your work will include:

  • Managing a caseload of serious injury personal injury claims
  • Obtaining, reviewing, and organising all medical records
  • Liaising with Police Forces for reports, CCTV, and evidence
  • Contacting witnesses and gathering documentation for special damages
  • Ensuring clients attend medical examinations
  • Preparing cases for litigation, including Court Bundles
  • Attending court hearings to assist Counsel
  • Applying legal analysis, case law, and statutory guidance
  • Ensuring regulatory and internal compliance
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience handling personal injury casework involving serious injuries (intermediate/multi-track)
  • High standard of legal work and exceptional client care
  • Excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner
  • Strong negotiation skills and analytical ability
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative approach with a commitment to team ethos
