A Contract Catering Cleaner ensures that dining areas, kitchens, and food service locations meet high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health and safety regulations. This role often involves a combination of general cleaning (sweeping, mopping, polishing) and specific catering support tasks, such as cleaning kitchen equipment, washing dishes, or managing waste disposal.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Cleaning, polishing, and mopping floors; vacuuming carpets; cleaning toilets, offices, and windows.
- Kitchen/Dining Cleaning: Deep cleaning kitchen areas, sanitizing touchpoints, cleaning ovens, and wiping surfaces.
- Waste Management: Emptying, cleaning, and sanitizing rubbish bins and disposing of waste safely.
- Food Service Support: Washing dishes, utensils, and large catering equipment.
- Operational Support: Setting up and moving dining furniture, cleaning tables, and maintaining stock levels of cleaning supplies.
- Compliance: Following all health, safety, and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
- Reporting: Informing supervisors of equipment defects or hygiene issues.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in a cleaning or catering role is often preferred but not always essential.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility: Availability to work different shifts, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Physical Fitness: Capability to operate cleaning machinery and perform manual tasks like lifting.
