Clinical Teaching Fellow - Junior or Senior

Appointments will be made in line with the stated salary scale, and with regards to the candidate's previous experience on Locally employed doctor Grade MT02 -MT04

Applications are invited for the post of two (2) North Middlesex University Hospital Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTF) working with UCL Medical School (UCLMS) students. The Clinical Teaching Fellow posts have been established to develop the career of clinicians with an interest in Medical Education. The post holders will be expected to organize and participate in the delivery of teaching and assessments for medical students and support their learning while they are on their clinical placements at the Trust. The posts are full time and available for one year.

Main duties of the job
  • Liaise with junior doctors and consultants to arrange teaching in the clinical environment for medical students
  • Supervise and oversee the learning of all medical students from UCL whilst on clinical placement
  • Develop and deliver tutorials, lectures and other educational sessions such as simulation training for medical students
  • Arrange and coordinate medical student formative and summative CPSA exams (formerly known as OSCE)
  • Provide pastoral support and academic guidance to students, including liaising with their educational supervisors
  • Supervise junior doctors in their professional development as clinical teachers, through peer observation and feedback and support in roles such as FY1 and FY2 Teaching Leads
  • Support faculty development including induction for new educational supervisors

Education & Professional Qualifications
  • MBBS Degree
  • Completed Foundation Training
  • GMC Full registration
  • Postgraduate certificate in Medical education/training qualification
Experience
  • Experience in medical education
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate levels and medical and non-medical staff
  • Proven record of delivering high standard teaching
  • Experience of and commitment to multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of the use of virtual learning environments
  • Experience in the development and delivery of original educational material
  • Experience of small scale research projects
  • Experience in assessments
Skills and aptitudes
  • Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
  • Excellent communication skills/verbal and written. Good command of written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous experience of developing virtual learning environment material
  • Ability to organize information and resource and keep track of large volumes of data
