EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) writer Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) writers are responsible for creating EHCPs that are compliant with the Children and Families Act 2014. They must interpret and adhere to the principles and statutory processes outlined in the SEN Code of Practice. Writing an EHCP can be complex and involved, but it's engaging and mentally stimulating work that has a positive impact on children's lives. Each EHCP will outline: A child or young person's special educational, health, and social needs How those needs should be addressed The outcomes the child or young person will aim to achieve The local authority's SEND service reviews the EHCP at least once a year to ensure that the support provided is effective.
