Job Description

C++ Production Support Engineer - 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35) - LONDON (Hybrid)

A contract role based in London (office-based, 3 days per week) for a 12-month engagement, with on-call requirements. We are looking for a hands-on C++ Production Support Engineer to support and enhance a Legacy Treasury platform within a leading global investment bank. The role is split between an initial phase of targeted C++ technical remediation on a mature, mission-critical codebase and ongoing production support responsibilities across the client's internal ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and address technical risk and vulnerability remediation within a Legacy C++ codebase - including buffer overflows and runtime vulnerabilities - on a platform with approximately 30 years of operational history
  • Perform code-level fixes and targeted enhancements, collaborating with internal developers to close out outstanding technical debt items
  • Provide L3 production support for the Treasury platform, including executing operational runbooks (such as user onboarding via database updates) and managing platform health monitoring and incident response
  • Contribute to transitioning platform support from a siloed model to a more distributed, scalable support structure
  • Integrate platform workflows into broader internal tooling, including scheduling and monitoring systems

What You Will Ideally Bring:

  • Strong, hands-on C++ engineering experience - including debugging, code reading, and implementing fixes in complex or Legacy codebases
  • Solid experience in production support environments: incident handling, runbook execution, and operational triage
  • Proficient in Unix/Linux environments (Solaris exposure advantageous)
  • Proven ability to work independently with high ownership in a low-supervision, high-pressure setting
  • Exposure to financial systems, trading platforms, or treasury applications within capital markets
  • Experience with Legacy system modernisation or technical debt remediation programmes

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)
  • Day Rate: £450+ (Inside IR35)
  • Location: London (Hybrid)
  • Start Date: ASAP
