Freelance Quantity Surveyor, Location: Near Thetford Initial 3-Month Contract Opportunity to go Permanent
What You'll Need to Succeed
Hays are currently working with a well-established subcontractor delivering technical construction packages. They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team on an initial 3-month freelance contract, with a strong opportunity to move into a permanent position should this suit your longer-term career plans.This role is office based near Thetford, with hybrid working available once you are fully up to speed and would suit a QS with proven experience operating within a specialist subcontractor environment.
Your New Role
You will play a key role in supporting the commercial delivery of live projects, managing specialist packages from a commercial perspective. Duties will include:
- Commercial management of specialist subcontractor works
- Preparation, submission and agreement of valuations
- Management of variations and change control
- Cost reporting, forecasting and final accounts
- Liaising closely with project teams, main contractors and external stakeholders
- Supporting commercial decision-making and risk management on technically detailed projects
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Previous experience working for a subcontractor (essential)
- Background in managing specialist or trade-focused packages
- Strong knowledge of valuations, variations and commercial reporting
- Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced project environment
- Confident communication skills and strong commercial awareness
- Competitive salary / rate
