Design Coordinator
Ganymede Solutions Jacob's Well, Surrey
Design Coordinator Infrastructure Projects Location: Surrey Rate: £300 - £380 (Outside IR35 considered) Duration: 12 months Start: ASAP We are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to support the delivery of civil and MEICA projects within a large capital programme. This role sits within the engineering and design management team and focuses on ensuring projects are technically coordinated and fully developed prior to construction. The successful candidate will play an important role during the pre-construction and detailed design phases, helping to ensure design deliverables, procurement requirements and delivery planning are aligned before work begins on site. Working closely with design partners, procurement teams and project delivery teams, you will review design outputs to ensure they comply with contractual, regulatory and technical requirements. You will also support the development of robust delivery plans by coordinating surveys, testing and inspections required to inform the design process. The position involves regular engagement with designers, clients and internal stakeholders to manage technical queries, review tender documentation and support procurement activities. You will help ensure subcontract enquiry packages are technically robust and assist with the assessment of tender returns where technical clarification is required. You will also contribute to project governance processes by preparing and reviewing documentation required for approvals, ensuring designs progress smoothly through internal and client review stages. Acting as a technical interface with the client, you will support the management of technical queries and waivers while maintaining alignment between design development and programme requirements. As projects move towards delivery, the Design Coordinator will support the transition from pre-construction into operational delivery by coordinating design information and managing smaller packages of work through to handover to site teams. The role also includes contributing technical updates to the project programme and supporting collaborative planning activities across the wider project team. Candidates should have a strong technical background within infrastructure or utilities projects, ideally with experience supporting MEICA design coordination within water or wastewater schemes. The ability to work collaboratively with design teams, contractors and clients while maintaining strong organisation and programme awareness is essential. Applicants should hold an HND or HNC in a relevant engineering discipline, with a degree preferred. A minimum of five years experience within construction or infrastructure project delivery is expected. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer or design coordinator to play a key role in shaping project delivery during the critical design and pre-construction stages of major infrastructure projects. Ganymede is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation
