Costs Draftsman

Hybrid Manchester or Liverpool £30-35k + Bonus

Location: Manchester or Liverpool (hybrid working available; remote considered for strong applicants)

Hours: Full-time, permanent, flexible start/finish times

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE + bonus

A well-established legal practice is looking for an experienced Costs Draftsman to join its expanding team.

About the Role of Costs Draftsman:

The successful candidate will support the legal team by preparing accurate and timely costs documentation for a range of housing-related matters. You will play a key role in ensuring costs are properly presented, negotiated, and recovered efficiently.

Key Responsibilities for the Costs Draftsman:

  • Working closely with fee earners and solicitors on concluded cases
  • Drafting costs schedules for statutory nuisance matters (Environmental Protection Act 1990)
  • Preparing and negotiating costs for Housing Disrepair and related breach of contract claims
  • Supervising junior costs paralegals within the team
  • Assisting with enforcement of costs or damages where required
  • Supporting the wider department with additional tasks to ensure smooth workflow

About You

You'll be a confident communicator with strong written skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in legal costs drafting
  • Strong IT skills
  • High level of accuracy and organisation
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality
