We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Engineering / Laboratory team as a Test Engineer at our Slough site.

About Safran Electrical Components - Slough
Safran Electrical Components specialises in the design, development, and qualification of high-performance electrical interconnection components used in demanding aerospace environments.
The laboratory plays a critical role in ensuring product safety, reliability, and certification, supporting products from early development through to full qualification and in-service validation.

Your Role
As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for performing and supporting a wide range of laboratory testing and qualification activities.
This is a hands-on, lab-based role where you will work autonomously to ensure products meet strict aerospace standards, while contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining a safe, well-organised testing environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring on-time delivery of test programmes, while achieving high standards in quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Testing & Qualification
-Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including mechanical, environmental, electrical testing, fluid and high-pressure testing and materials testing
-Support prototype validation, product characterisation, qualification of new products and routine testing of existing products
-Investigate test failures and anomalies, performing root causes analysis and supporting corrective and preventive actions
-Analyse test data and produce clear technical reports with conclusions

Laboratory & Equipment
-Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
-Ensure calibration and maintenance of test equipment
-Contribute to the improvement or development of test setups and fixtures
Continuous Improvement & Processes
-Follow established test procedures while contributing to their improvement
-Support data analysis to enhance product quality and performance
-Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the lab
- Support performance objectives

Collaboration & Communication
-Work closely with engineering, quality, and other internal teams
-Provide feedback on testing progress, issues, and results
-Occasionally liaise with external laboratories, suppliers, or partners

Health, Safety & Environment
-Operate in a high-risk testing environment with strict adherence to safety procedures
-Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation in the lab
-Actively contribute to a strong safety culture

Travel
Occasional travel to external testing providers and other Safran sites division (UK,France, Tunisia, North America).

What You'll Bring

Essential
-Hands-on experience in a laboratory or industrial testing environment
-Experience in mechanical, environmental, chemical and electrical testing
-Practical / manual skills
-Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
-Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot test issues

Desirable
-Experience in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing or high regulated industries
-Knowledge of H&S, quality and aerospace standards (e.g. COOSH, AS9100, ISO 17025)
-Experience in tool making or similar technical hands-on roles
