About the Air Conditioning Engineer Opportunity

Our client is a well-established specialist within the HVAC sector, seeking an experienced and motivated Air Conditioning Installation Engineer to oversee installation projects across a variety of commercial and residential environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional who enjoys leading teams, managing projects from survey through to commissioning, and maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre-installation site surveys and project risk assessments.
  • Plan installation works, including material procurement and delivery scheduling.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, lifting operations, access equipment, and other site requirements.
  • Lead installation teams on air conditioning projects, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and HVAC design documentation to ensure accurate installation.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers and trainees on site.
  • Monitor installation quality and ensure all equipment and materials meet project specifications.
  • Complete system testing, commissioning, and performance checks to verify correct operation.
  • Produce and maintain installation records, commissioning documentation, and compliance reports.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, project stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues while maintaining project timelines and quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

- City & Guilds qualification in a relevant mechanical or HVAC discipline.

- Valid F-Gas certification.

- Demonstrable experience leading installation teams and supporting the development of engineers through coaching and mentoring.

- Extensive experience installing VRV, VRF, split, and multi-split air conditioning systems.

- Strong understanding of refrigeration principles and HVAC installation best practices.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams.

- Proven mechanical skills including brazing, pipework fabrication, and pipe bending.

- Full UK driving licence with a good driving record.

- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Desirable

- Previous experience within commercial HVAC installation projects.

- Experience coordinating subcontractors and site logistics.

- Knowledge of commissioning procedures and fault-finding techniques.

Working Arrangements

  • Predominantly field-based role covering sites throughout the UK.
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on project location.
  • Attendance at regional operational meetings and project briefings as required.
