3rd Line Network Engineer, you will provide advanced technical support and own escalated issues across end-to-end network environments. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex connectivity problems, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of mission-critical systems.
You will work across the full network stack - from
ISP backbone and WAN connectivity through to customer edge, Firewalls, LAN switching, and wireless infrastructure - playing a key role in maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.
This role requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and deliver under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 3rd line support across complex enterprise and ISP-level network environments
- Own and resolve escalated network incidents, performing deep technical diagnostics
- Support full-stack networking including WAN, LAN, routing, switching, Firewalls, wireless, and SD-WAN
- Troubleshoot issues across core backbone, circuits, customer edge, and on-site infrastructure
- Work across multi-vendor environments including Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto
- Ensure high levels of network performance, availability, and reliability
- Maintain detailed documentation and update ITSM/ticketing systems (eg ServiceNow)
- Collaborate with internal teams and support knowledge sharing across the wider technical function
- Support customers in mission-critical environments, ensuring professionalism and accuracy at all times
Essential Skills & Experience- Proven experience in a 3rd Line Network Engineer or senior network support role
- Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability network environments (public sector, healthcare, education, or enterprise)
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Routing protocols (BGP, TCP/IP stack)
- WAN/LAN networking
- Firewalls and network security
- Wireless networking and SD-WAN technologies
- Hands-on experience with FortiGate, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto
- Experience using ITSM platforms (ServiceNow desirable)
- CCNA certification (essential)
- CCNP certification (highly desirable)
